Categories of personal information collected
• Identifiers, such as name, email address, IP address, account name, and other online identifiers
• Customer records information, such as parent contact and billing information
• Commercial information, such as subscription and transaction records
• Internet or other network activity, such as interactions with the Site and Services
• Geolocation data, meaning general location inferred from network information.We do not collect precise geolocation.
When a parent creates a child profile, we also collect the child information described in the children’s privacy section of our Privacy Policy, and only after verifiable parental consent.
Purposes for collection and use
• operate, secure, and provide the Site and tutoring services
• create and manage parent accounts and child profiles with verifiable parental consent
• generate tutoring responses, speech, and images through our artificial intelligence service providers
• process subscriptions and payments
• provide support and respond to parent requests
• prevent fraud, misuse, and security incidents
• comply with legal obligations, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and enforce our terms
• measure aggregated site usage and improve performance
We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
Retention
We retain personal information for the periods stated in the retention schedule in our Privacy Policy, and otherwise only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, the relevant record type, and our legal obligations. A verified parent can delete a child’s information sooner at any time.
Sale, sharing, and opt-out information
• We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Sensitive personal information
• We collect account log-in credentials, meaning a parent password and a child access code and PIN, used to authenticate access to the Services.
We use sensitive personal information only to provide the Services and for purposes permitted by California law, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about a consumer.
