Tutor Factory Legal & Privacy Agreement
Draft parent agreement — lawyer review required before public launch.
Last updated: May 14, 2026
1. Parent responsibility and consent
A parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult must create and manage the Tutor Factory account. By creating an account or saving parent consent, you confirm that you are authorized to allow the child to use Tutor Factory and that you agree to this Legal & Privacy Agreement.
Child access is controlled through parent-created access codes. Children may not create public accounts, manage billing, change account settings, or publish profiles.
2. What information we collect
- Parent account information: parent name, email address, password hash, login/session data, and account settings.
- Child profile information: nickname or preferred first name, grade level, subjects, language, parent-provided learning notes, optional school/curriculum context, and kid access code.
- Tutoring information: chat messages, tutor responses, session history, homework images/uploads, progress notes, and related metadata needed to provide tutoring.
- Operational information: consent records, audit events, security logs, usage counters, device/browser/IP metadata, and support/debug information.
3. What parents should provide — and avoid
Useful tutoring context includes grade level, subjects, strengths, tricky areas, learning style, interests, class topics, and optional school/curriculum context.
Please avoid full legal child names, birthdays, home addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, medical records, diagnosis details, unrelated family details, or anything the tutor does not need. If something sensitive is accidentally included in a homework upload or message, we treat it as private tutoring material.
4. How we use information
- To create and manage parent accounts, child profiles, and tutor sessions.
- To personalize tutoring to the child's grade, subject, learning style, assignments, and parent notes.
- To generate AI tutor responses and explain schoolwork step by step.
- To show parents session history, progress, data controls, and account controls.
- To operate, secure, debug, support, and improve the service.
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
5. AI providers and AI limitations
Tutor Factory uses configured third-party AI providers, such as Anthropic Claude or OpenAI, to generate tutor responses. We send the minimum tutoring context needed: recent messages, relevant child learning context, and necessary homework content.
- AI responses can be incorrect, incomplete, or confusing.
- AI safety filters and tutor instructions reduce risk but are not perfect.
- Tutor Factory is educational assistance, not professional educational, medical, legal, or psychological advice.
- Parents should supervise children's use and review session history.
- We aim to use provider settings that do not train provider models on customer content where available.
- Tutor Factory does not sell child data or use child data for behavioral advertising.
6. Who can see child information
- The parent or authorized adult managing the account.
- The child while using their tutor access code.
- Tutor Factory staff or contractors only when needed to operate, secure, debug, support, or improve the service.
- Service providers only as needed to provide hosting, storage, database, authentication, AI response generation, billing, security, or support.
7. Service providers
We use service providers to operate Tutor Factory. Examples may include:
- Vercel — application hosting and deployment.
- Railway/Postgres — database hosting when configured.
- Cloudflare R2 or S3-compatible storage — private homework uploads when configured.
- Anthropic Claude / OpenAI or other configured AI providers — tutor response generation.
- Stripe — billing after paid plans are enabled; billing should not receive child tutoring content.
See the subprocessor list for the current vendor summary.
8. What we do not do
- We do not sell child data.
- We do not run behaviorally targeted ads to children.
- We do not make child profiles public.
- We do not let children contact strangers through Tutor Factory.
- We do not ask children for home addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, medical records, government IDs, or unrelated sensitive information.
9. Parent controls and rights
Parents can use the dashboard to review child profiles and tutoring sessions, export child data, permanently delete child data, revoke consent, or delete the parent account. Parents can also contact privacy@tutorfactory.ai for privacy requests.
Revoking consent may block child access and tutoring until consent is completed again. Deleting child data or an account may be permanent.
10. Retention and deletion
We keep child data only while needed for tutoring, parent account management, security, support, legal compliance, and parent-requested records. Parents can request deletion at any time. As the product matures, uploads and inactive/free accounts should have clearer automatic retention limits.
11. Acceptable use
Do not use Tutor Factory for harmful, abusive, unlawful, privacy-invasive, adult, or unsafe activity. We may limit or terminate access to protect children, families, other users, or the service.
12. Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement as Tutor Factory changes. For material changes involving child data, we should notify parents and may require updated consent before child access continues.
